5 things to remember before starting the 7th season of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones premieres its long awaited seventh and penultimate season on July 16. More than a year has passed since the end of the previous season.

The decision to delay the launch of the seventh season is related to the weather. The producers of the series decided to change the dates of recording of the episodes to better take advantage of the winter weather in the chosen locations.

But considering that it has been so long between the end of the sixth season and the beginning of the new season, it is worth remembering some key data that we should have as soon as we begin to see the first episode of the seventh season.

1. Arya Stark finally returns to Westeros

After being blind, being stabbed and almost killed, Arya Stark leaves Bravos and returns to Westeros.

The first thing he did, before the end of the season, was to visit Walder Frey, feed his son’s remains and kill him. Do not forget that it was in the Frey House where the red wedding happened.

Frey was obviously on the list of people he wants to assassinate Arya in revenge as organizer, accomplice and participant in the murder of his brother Rob, his sister-in-law Talisa Maegyr and his mother, Catelyn Stark.

2. Cersei Lannister exploded the Great Sept of Baelor

Cersei Lannister pressed the reset button to his problems and his domains by blowing up the Great Sept of Baelor, where, among many others, the High Sparrow, Margaery Tyrell, and one another Lannister died.

That way she takes away virtually everything that did not allow her to govern as she wanted. The problem? Tommen, his last living son decided to commit suicide to see the explosion and understand that Margaery had died.

With all his sons and his father dead, the sixth season of Game of Thrones ends with Cersei becoming the Iron Throne.

Another of the final key scenes of the last episode of the sixth season. After years of searching half the world for an army to regain control of the seven kingdoms, Daenerys Targaryen and his immense fleet of ships full of soldiers are on their way to Westeros.

Also remember that before ending the sixth season, Daenerys formed an alliance with Yara Greyjoy to regain control of the Iron Islands of his uncle, Euron Greyjoy who murdered his brother (father of Yara and Theon), Balon Greyjoy.

4. Jon Snow’s luck changes

After whole seasons of suffering, betrayals that ended in his death, the luck of Jon Snow changed in the sixth season. Revived by Melisandre, he began to find allies on his way who want him to be his new king.

In addition to reviving, he was fortunate to be reunited for the first time in a long time with one of the members of his family, Sansa Stark.

Together the two brothers, declared the war to Ramsay Bolton to take control of Winterfell, previously governed by the Stark family. The battle was terrible, it took the life of Rickon Stark, left Jon Snow to die and his army decimated. They were only able to win with the intervention at the last moment of the army of the House Arryn, courtesy of Petyr Baelish (Pinky or Littlefinger).

With the battle won, Winterfell recovered, able to have united different houses, armies and savages, Jon Snow is declared King of the North.

The penultimate and memorable episode of the sixth season, Battle of the Bastards ends with Sansa Stark allowing the wild dogs of Ramsay Bolton to eat their master.

In addition, it is not necessary to forget that in the sixth season one of the theories of the most popular fans came true: Jon Snow is not a bastard, it is not son of Ned Stark and therefore he is not brother of Sansa, Arya or Rob . He is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen (brother of Aerys and therefore the uncle of Daenerys) and Lyna Stark (sister of Ned) whom Rhaegar kept captured in the Tower of Joy.

Which brings us to the last point:

5. Bran Stark is the new Crow of three eyes

Everything indicates that some of the biggest and biggest problems throughout Game of Thrones are caused by Bran Stark returning in time, reliving things of the past and trying to change them.

That’s how we learned about Jon Snow’s real past and true parents, but also his visits to the past caused the brain damage that left Hodor unable to repeat another word other than that, “Hodor.”

It is possible, moreover, that Bran be responsible for the father of Daenerys Targaryen, Aerys to become the crazy king, whispering words to the ear, during his trips to the past.

The sixth season, remember, ends with Bran replacing the old man inside the tree and assuming his role as the new three-eyed Crow.
